And That's How You Do That!

The first (and likely last) Presidential debate went down last night, and Kamela Harris mopped up the floor with the Tangerine Tojo. She was calm, collected and drove home the points that anyone with any savvy already knows -- Donald Trump is yesterday's news, a washed-up TV celebrity who needs to head back home and prepare for his prison stays. (Or his transition to life in Venezuela.) It was a masterful presentation. If she and her running mate Tim Walz don't win the election after this performance and the campaign they've run, then we no longer need to be even the shell of a functioning democracy. Trump is a tired old racist and his running mate is fucking Nazi. Such types cannot be allowed to run this country, and in a very few weeks they will lose their last chance to do so for many years to come. The United States will move forward and not look back. The future looks bright. But we have to win. And we will.

Rip Off

  1. The second debate you mean. If the first debate in June had never happened Biden would be the Democratic nominee by now and it would be too late to replace him if he'd messed up in yesterday's debate which is a horrifying thought!

    1. Point taken. But I sort of feel like the race rebooted after Biden stepped away. I know it's hard to believe but I still think that if Democrats actually bonded around Biden, he'd have squeezed out another victory. But I can see that the current ticket is an upgrade for the times.

  2. I loved how Harris firmly set the terms & tone of the debate from the beginning. And I'm equally glad that one of the first things she said this morning was that while they'd won the debate, they still haven't won the election yet, so let's get out there & work hard every day up to the election. This can't be emphasized enough.

It also strikes me that 2026 will be the 250th birthday of America. How fitting & right it would be to have a black/South Asian woman presiding over the celebration!
